Sifton Breaks Ground on First LEED® Registered Homes

Leading the way in “green” new home construction.
Construction is officially underway on Sifton Properties’ newest “green” homebuilding project in north London. Sifton will offer homebuyers their first opportunity to build a LEED® Registered home in London. In addition, the Sifton Model Home will be London’s first triple labelled new home - ENERGY STAR® Qualified, LEED® Registered and GreenHouse™ Certified.
Sifton Properties President, Richard Sifton, with the assistance of Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco-Best, Rob Panzer of the City of London, and Michelle Cote of EnerQuality Corporation, broke ground yesterday on the Sifton Model Home to be built in the company’s new Forest Hill subdivision.
Sifton Properties’ new single family homes at Forest Hill will be the first production-built LEED® Registered homes in the city of London. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a rating system that promotes the design and construction of high-performance green homes. A green home uses less energy, water, and natural resources; creates less waste; and is healthier and more comfortable for the occupants.
The performance of a new home relates directly to the process used to create it. When building a LEED® home, careful consideration is given to the home’s design, location, sustainability, water and energy efficiency, indoor atmosphere, materials and resources, and environmental impact. It then undergoes rigorous third-party inspection and performance-testing to provide indisputable proof that it is truly “green”.

Sifton’s Phase One lots at Forest Hill will back onto protected forest, and homeowners are free to choose from five brand new home designs starting from the $290,000’s. In addition to being a LEED® home, each home will be ENERGY STAR® Qualified; and for those interested in taking their home to an additional level, GreenHouse™ Certification will be available.
