Employees Exceed Target for Volunteer Hours

As a tribute to Harry Sifton, the company’s founder, the employees of Sifton Properties have banded together to volunteer time for their favorite charity, church or organization. “2008 is the company’s 85th anniversary. What better time to show our support of the communities we operate in?” said company President and CEO Richard Sifton. “Today marks a great milestone. We have completed over 8600 hours, which exceeds our target.” reported Donna Thacker, member of the 85th anniversary committee.

Employees were asked in January 2008 to contribute time to their favorite charity, church, organization or citizen group. This could be part of their regular volunteer initiatives or something special. Each employee was asked to record where they volunteered and the length of time. All locations within the company set specific goals, with head office tallying for the overall count. The corporate goal was 8500 hours.

Richard Sifton summed up his comments with “in today's economic times the Sifton Family is very proud of our employees for stepping up to our call to help others”.
