Investing in the Community

Sifton has a long history of community involvement, stretching back to the first piece of parkland donated by founder Harry Sifton in the 1940's.

Below are a few key reasons why we proudly call ourselves a community builder.

  • We have donated over 200 acres of parkland the city of London, with similar donations in Brantford and Guelph
  • The Sifton Botanical Bog, deemed a significant biological reserve, was given to London in the early 60's
  • Together with the City of London, Sifton preserved and protected Kains Woods, an environmentally sensitive area in the west end of the city
  • We take part in the London Corporate Challenge, with proceeds going to various charities
  • We are a major sponsor of the Dig Deep Volleyball tournament, with proceeds going to Youth Opportunities Unlimited.
  • In 1998 - during our 75th Anniversary - Sifton employees and suppliers took part in several special projects, including:
    • building the Springbank Express station in Springbank park
    • helping redesign and rebuild "The Street Where You Live" , a permanent exhibit at the London Regional Children's Museum
    • planting trees in Guelph
    • donating books to schools in Brantford and Guelph
  • One London Place - the tallest office building in London and built by Sifton - is home to the United Way stair climb, the annual blood donor clinic and the Peregrine Falcon watch
  • We supported the London Public Library with funding for the new downtown branch, as well as local health care with a donation to London hospitals
  • Every year, we sponsor children's baseball, soccer and hockey teams
  • In 2001, we provided scholarship funding for two Fanshawe College students
  • We are a founding member of the London Home Builders Association which celebrates 50 years in 2002
  • We received the Ontario Solicitor General Award 1991 for the Sifton Safety Home, which was the first of its kind in North America
  • Glen Sifton has been named to Mayor's list in the safety category
  • In 1990, we received a Certificate of Appreciation from the City of London for outstanding contribution to preservation and enhancement of London's natural environment and quality of life.
